I think god loves me: Eesha

Confesses a radiant Eesha Koppikhar, in a tete a tete with TOI. The perky Mangalorean beauty who’s back to work post marriage, talks about films, family and fitness...
I think god loves me: Eesha
She’s back from a dream honeymoon, but she’s got her feet firmly on the ground.
She’d gone on record a li’l before her marriage to Timmy Narang saying that she does not mind being called Eesha Narang, but the lady does a U-turn of sorts and tells us, “Call me Eesha Koppikhar, that’s how people know me. It will take time for people to settle down to Eesha Narang...

I mean to build the brand it might take a good five years!” she told Hyderabad Times, between mouthfuls of roti, palak paneer and dudhi dal.
Post marriage the lady seems to be in demand. She’s already got two films on a platter and there’s more lined up. “Hello Darling is a film that revolves around three women (essayed by Eesha, Celina Jaitely and Gul Panaag). It’s not exactly a Charlie’s Angels kind of a film, but there’s no conventional hero in the film except for Javed Jaffery who plays the boss. In Shaabri I play a woman who is trapped between the mafia and the police. It’s an action thriller where you can see me jumping off the first floor on to a moving tempo and then onto a parapet wall! I think I could give Akshay Kumar a run for his money,” she says with gusto. And though she’s got two more offers, Eesha’s in two minds, because she’s worried that an extra commitment would upset her work-life balance.
On the home front, Eesha who grew up in a joint family avers that her transition to the Narang household has been a smooth one. “I think God loves me. What amazes me is that even though the two of us are not from the same field of work, Timmy is so understanding, liberal and trusts my judgment. I am lucky to have found somebody like him,” she gushes. “Now, I am trying to learn Punjabi. It’s pretty much similar to Hindi but somehow the last syllable in every Punjabi word seems to have an extra stress!” she gurgles.
With Viveka Babaji’s death rocking the fashion frat, we ask her about the stress in the glamour world. “It’s sad. Very, very sad,” she reacts. “That’s why it so important to do the right thing at the right time. However, independent a woman you are, if you are waiting to get a life partner when you are 35 plus, what will you get but leftovers?” she observes and adds, “At the end of a day’s work all of us want to go home — a place where we receive and give love and affection. It’s even better if it’s a joint family because you do have a support system and as you are answerable to the elders in the family there is a check on you. Also there’s always someone around to knock some sense into you when you need it.”

Eesha also advocates a healthy dose of spirituality. “I do my daily pooja path and I always try and stay connected with the supreme one. I also visit the Gurudwara and wear a kada — it’s because of an old friend of mine. Timmy is totally not into it and I hope some of it rubs on to him,” she sighs.
Besides spirituality, Eesha also credits her martial arts training for helping her maintain her equanimity. “You will never find a depressed martial artist,” avers the lady who is a black belt in Taekwondo and whose daily workout reuimen lasts an hour or more. Gorgeous Eesha also does not believe in size zero or going on diets. “I eat well. I eat sensibly. And I work out. I don’t believe in starving myself as I don’t believe in aging or looking haggard much before my time!” she signs off.
